Charlotte Hammerton-Jackson

Lead Nurse

Charlotte is an experienced Children’s Nurse with over 30 years experience in the NHS, beginning her career after obtaining a Batchelor of Nursing degree at Swansea University. She developed specialist expertise in caring for children with neurological conditions whilst working at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford and later served as Ward Sister for Paediatric Neurosciences and Specialist Surgery for 15 years at the Radcliffe Infirmary and then the Oxford Children’s Hospital. She became Lead Nurse for the Surgery in Children Network in 2021.

Charlotte holds a PGCE in Higher Education and developed the national Paediatric Pre Assessment Practitioner Course and is a registered PILS Instructor. She has contributed to national best practice guidance through GIRFT and APAGBI and sits on NHS England’s Clinical Reference Group for Specialised Surgery in Children. Outside work, she enjoys Pilates, yoga, family time, countryside walks with her miniature schnauzers, and travelling in Jolene, her VW campervan.
