The Paediatric Neurosciences Operational Delivery Network (ODN) covers both Thames Valley and Wessex and the South West of England, providing coordinated specialist care for children and young people with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions across a large and diverse geographical area.
Tertiary paediatric neurosciences services are delivered from designated specialist centres within the South East and South West, working in close partnership with district general hospitals, local paediatric teams and community services throughout the network. Children may receive assessment and ongoing care locally, with transfer to a specialist centre when advanced diagnostics, surgery or specialist multidisciplinary input is required.
The geography of the ODN supports clear referral pathways, coordinated patient transfers, shared clinical standards and consistent models of care across both regions. Through collaborative working across the South East and South West, the network helps reduce unwarranted variation, improve equity of access, and ensure timely, safe and high-quality care for children and their families.
